Billie Eilish Made a Rare Feat in the History of Grammy Awards

Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, who is an 18 years old American singer and songwriter, achieved a remarkable feat at today’s ceremony, January 26, 2020, for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. Four years ago, she released the original track, “Ocean Eyes” which made her international well-known artist in the music industry. She bagged the top four awards and became the second person who made this rare feat in the history of the highest music industry’s honors, Grammy.

Billie Eilish’s Achievement of Debut Album

Eilish was born and raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. She gained worldwide attention after her song, “Ocean Eyes” was subsequently released by Darkroom/Interscope Records in 2016. On Sunday, the teen music sensation, Eilish not only owned the title of the best new artist for 2020 Awards but also won the Awards in all three top categories including the album, song, and record of the year.

It was a rare feat in the history of the Awards, as she became the second person, and the youngest, to win all four top Grammys on the same night in nearly four decades after Christopher Cross made the same success in 1981. Meanwhile, the English sensational singer-songwriter, Adele also had achieved Grammys for each category but separate events.

On the ceremony of the Grammy Awards, Eilish was distinguished by her green hair and baggy clothes. “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” was the winning debut studio album of Eilish which she recorded with her brother Finneas in the bedroom of their Los Angeles home. Her single track, “Bad Guy” won the song of the year and record of the year Awards while his brother, Finneas also won the Grammy for non-classical producer of the year. She got total of five awards for the 2020 Grammy Awards.

The Grammy Awards ceremony unveiled with condolence and dedication to the American basketball player, Kobe Bryant who died in a helicopter accident earlier in the day and his Los Angeles Lakers team has its home at the city’s Staples Center and Grammy venue. Alicia Keys, the renowned singer who hosted the Grammy events opened up a remark, “We are literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built. We never imagined in a million years we’d have to start the show like this.”

Lil Nas X, 20 years old rapper who is a gay, won two awards.  Citing the Nax’s Awards, comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who is also gay, said as she introduced Lil Nas X, “He told the world he was gay and overnight he became an inspiration and a role model for hundreds of young people around the world.”

R&B star Lizzo won three of her eight nominations but Ariana Grande never won a single Awards of the five Grammys for which she was nominated. During the events, John Legend, DJ Khaled, and rapper Meek Mill paid tribute to the rapper, Nipsey Hussle, (33) who was gunned down in Los Angeles neighborhood last year, won two Grammys.

Eilish’s achievement in Grammy was a big shocking moment for other competitors including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and rapper Post Malone. Finneas said while accepting the awards with Eilish, “We didn’t make this album to win a Grammy. We wrote about depression and suicidal thoughts and environmental change. We stand up here confused and grateful.” Responding to the question of how she would do next, Eilish said, “Being at this moment is all I’m thinking about… I’m gonna do whatever I feel.”
